ALL SOULS CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH “TOGETHER AS ONE”
Joan and daughter, Angela Warren, designed the “Together As One” symbol on the Graduates’ Blanket after member of the 2001 Senior High Sunday School class completed an assignment to visually capture what All Souls Church meant to them. The image of humans joining hands in a circle was remarkably consistent in the many drawings submitted. Inspired by the Rose Window in the Meetinghouse, the concept grew. The content of the “window” on the blanket has to be reduced to its most basic lines. In the original, the dove as the symbol of the Holy Spirit, is descending on Jesus (at the time of Jesus’ baptism, Matthew 3:16; Mark 1:10; Luke 3:22; and John 1:32). The halo and the cross remind us of Jesus’ divinity and his humanity. Jesus joins the hands fo all men, women, boys and girls. The Holy Spirit connects us with each other as e join in the dance of life…together as one. Around the outside edges are the green mountains and blue waters of Maine all blending into the blue of Heaven. The gold center and the reflected gold ring above the earth show the source of the Light of the World.
