Everyone is invited to join in on Tuesdays at 6:00pm. Families are welcome.
A homework support team is in place for the children.
Come and enjoy a great meal, great conversation and great learning opportunities
with Dr Haddix, Mrs. Garrett, Dr. Robert Sherman and others.

Though regular attendance is beneficial . . . it is not obligatory.
If you can come occasionally . . . then by all means come when you can . . . you are welcome

September 27 Art is always the creative expression of the human spirit. It can reflect
October 4 our highest virtue, it can show us our most base nature. It also displays
  11 for all to see the worldview of the artist. What might constitute Christian
    art? You may be surprised...
     
Session 2   The Trinity ~ Why it Matters
    Leader: Dr. Robert Sherman
October 18 God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, the Three in One.
  25 The Trinity is not a problem to be solved, but the wondrous
November 1 reality of God's eternal being and his embracing us. We will discuss how
  8 the Trinity is the wellspring of our Christian faith and life, and the
  15 touchstone for any believer to rightly claim the name "Christian."

Session 3   Learning the New Hymnal

November 29 The new hymnal, eagerly anticipated for the last 10 years, is finally here.
December 6 Get to know the new layout, the stories behind some of the hymns,
  13 sing and prepare for the celebration of Christmas.

Session 4   The Letter to the Hebrews
    Leaders: Dr. James Haddix, Dr. Robert Sherman
January 10 An often neglected letter in the New Testament, Hebrews holds much
  17 treasure for our spiritual purses. Through scriptural cross-references,
  24 allusions, and typology, it is deeply entwined with the whole biblical
  31 story. It evocatively shows how seeds planted in the Old Testament
February 7 come to fruition in the New, even as it looks to the future in Christ,
  14 "the pioneer and perfector of our faith."

Session 5   Can Suffering Ever Make Sense?

February 28 Is it true "...all things work together for good for those who love God,
March 6 who are called according to his purposes," as St. Paul asserts? We will
  13 explore the diverse biblical understandings of suffering (in Proverbs, Job,
  20 Ecclesiastes and other parts of the Old Testament), including the assertion
  27 that rebellion against God is the source of our suffering. We will also
    consider Jesus, whose earthly ministry demonstrated his desire to

May 1 the 200th year anniversary of the founding of First Parish with interactive
  8 experiences that will bring our past alive in the present.
