The Creation Windows
The series of windows was continued with the dedication of the Creation windows in the chapel in 1976. The first window is based on Genesis 1:3 "And God said, 'Let there be light': and there was light." From the traditional Hand of God in the clouds, descend rays of light to form the chaotic mass of illumination to become the source of light and warmth with its implications of potential life. Surrounding are the blues of depth and darkness. The border of conventional cloud forms is accented with stars of heavenly steadfastness and divine inspiration. The memorial inscription is: TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN LOVING MEMORY OF FREDERICK J. RANLETT 1857-1924 ADELE F. RANLETT 1863-1954 FRED R. MILLER 1872-1966 RUTH M. MILLER 1872-1961.
“And God called the firmament Heaven” (Genesis 1:8) is the theme of the second window which continues the miracle of Creation with grass and herbs, watered by running streams and supporting cattle, and winged fowl, every living creature, all under the lights of the firmament, the moon and stars, to rule the night. The border of decorative cloud forms is accented with flowers and foliage. The third window carries on the story of creation with the waters and their fish, the trees yielding fruit, and over all man and woman standing together in the divine light of blessing from above. “So God created man in His own image.” (Gen. 1:27) The memorial inscriptions are: "In Memory of Pauline Mansur Freeland (1896-1974 / In Memory of Annie and George B. Freeland 1860-1954 1859-1939".
