The Old Testament New Testament Window
This pair of windows was made in 1944. The inscription, which runs across the two windows at their base, is: "Frederick M. Meek D.D. Pastor 1936-1943 and his wife Amy Hunt Meek."
The pair symbolize the Old and New Testament through significant characters from each – the loyal Ruth of Moab and the blessed Mary shown rather as the mistress of the household than as the mother of Jesus. Ruth bears the sheaves of her gleaning (Ruth 2:3), while Mary is holding a distaff for spinning. The decorative canopy is enriched with little attendant figures and angels of prayer and with the decorative canopy that appears so often throughout the window series. Centered below each of the principle figures is a kneeling figure holding an open book in which, respectively, are the initials “O T” (Old Testament) and “N T” (New Testament).
