Whoever you are and wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.

Welcome!

Welcome to the All Souls Congregational Church.  Whoever you are and wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here. At All Souls you will discover committed Christian believers, rich worship and prayer life, great music, a lively Sunday School, vibrant youth groups, and many opportunities for mission and service.

If you are looking for a closer walk with Jesus or may suspect that He has made a claim on you, you are looking in the right place. If you have felt God’s call into His church, if you want to be a servant in the service of the whole human family, and if you want to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the powers of evil we invite you to join us here.

Worship here is formal. It is not stiff, but it is intended to form and shape people according to the language of Scripture and into the way of Jesus Christ.  Worship and Mission are at the heart of all we do.  We work and pray for changes in the minds and hearts of people that can make them more Christ-like.  We also work and pray for Godly transformations of the world around us: our social world, the world of work and home, and the natural world.

If you want to build a house in Guatemala, feed the hungry and homeless, or help the rural poor, you can do that here.  If you want to learn about Christian history and theology, you can do that here.  If you want to work with people from other churches and other religious traditions for deeper understanding and discovering common cause, you can do that here.  And, if you want your children to join you in growing in the Christian faith, you can do that here.

All Souls emphasizes an intergenerational life together.  Children are not the future of the church; they are very much the present.  So are the more mature. Together we learn. Together we worship. Together we serve. Come and see.

Summary of Programs

Sunday Services

Join us on Sundays as we praise the Lord and unite as a community. We worship together on Sundays at 10:00am from September to June, and at 9:00am during July and August.

Church School

The Board of Christian Education feels strongly that a firm grounding in the basic beliefs, practices, and principles of our Christian faith is tremendously important as a first step of a life-long faith journey. The church intends to be a welcoming place, a safe place, and a place full of smiles, songs, and nurturing encouragement. We hope that we can share that spirit with you and your child as we work together. Our Sunday educational programming for Preschool through 3rd Grade is called EPIC, Educational Program Imparting Christianity. Grades 4 & 5, 6-8, and 9-12 meet in a more traditional classroom with their teachers.

Music

The Senior Choir has been active in worship for over half a century. This is a volunteer choir, made up of people who have a heart for God and for song as well as an ear for music. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 and on Sunday mornings from 9:00 to 9:30 from September to June. In addition to the anthems and responses sung during our regular Sunday morning services, the Senior Choir occasionally participates in other special presentations in the church and in the community.

Service

All Souls Congregational Church is proud to be constantly serving our local community. We are at the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen serving meals to the homeless two times each month.  We also we host the Community Café of the Meals for ME program on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the year.

We joined with 8 other churches in the Bangor Area in 2013 to launch the Greater Bangor Street Pastor Initiative which sends teams out onto the downtown streets every Friday night to be in conversation with the people they encounter, helping them out in small ways if they can. We are a covenant partner with Habitat for Humanity, meaning that we send people, money, and prayers for each project.

Through our Assist-JC Program, eighth graders and high school students commit themselves to truly transformative mission work both domestically and abroad. We facilitate trips to Eastport, Maine, Black Mesa, Arizona, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic.
