Steinway Concert | April 15
Renowned Maine composer/pianist and Grammy award winner, Paul Sullivan, will be appearing at All Souls Church on Sunday, April 15th at 2:00 p.m. as part of the Arlan A. Baillie Steinway Series of Events.
He will be playing some of his compositions, and some American classics by Hoagy Carmichael and George Gershwin. Blending his classical music training and jazz experience, Paul's pieces reflect the beauty and wonder of our natural
surroundings. A warm and articulate performer, Paul generously shares humorous stories and observations during his concerts. Besides performing solo piano concerts throughout the country, he has frequently appeared with the Paul Winter Consort. Their CD, Silver Solstice, won a Grammy Award. Paul also has performed internationally, and also with a wide variety of musicians in places ranging from the late night jazz clubs of New York City to remote mountaintops in Oregon.
Sullivan grew up in Boston, attended Phillips Exeter Academy, and received a B.A. in music from Yale University in 1977. He then pursued a freelance music career in New York which included appearing as a conductor, performer, and composer on and off Broadway, and creating and teaching an electronic music course at Yale. He currently lives in Sedgwick, Maine.
