Church School Begins September 18

It is time again to start another year of Church School! Our classes will begin Sunday, September 18th, with children being dismissed after the Children’s Message from the regular Church Service.

As in previous years, children in Pre-School through 3rd Grade will be doing our EPIC program of arts & crafts, story-time, and singing in Rooms 4 and 5 with our volunteers. Students in Grades 4 and 5 will attend class with Katie Hall in Room C. Students in 6th through 8th Grade will be taught by David Hawkins in the Stetson Room. And High School Students, 9th through 12th Grade, will be meeting in the Loomis Room with Renee and Rex Garrett. As always, childcare is available in the nursery for infants and toddlers through age 3.

In order to better know and serve our Church School students and their families, PLEASE be sure to register all of your children who will be attending at any time or in any part of our Church School Program, from the Nursery through Seniors in High School. We are working on our records to make sure we have current and accurate information. So whether you have registered your children every year for the past ten years, or you’re brand new to our church, please be sure they get registered THIS year. You can find a registration form in the bulletin on Sunday, during Coffee Hour after Church Service with Malorie Sprague, or stop by the Church Office.

Also, this year we will be trying something new with our EPIC students, Pre-K through 3rd Grades. After about 15 minutes each of crafts, story, and singing, the students and volunteers will go down to the Vestry where a new Children’s Table will be set up towards the back of the room. The students will take turns serving each other a snack and beverage and will learn a grace to say before eating. The parents of these children will then find and pick them up here, instead of Rooms 4 and 5 as in previous years. We hope that this will help teach the children some new skills and also allow for an easier pick up process for the parents and volunteers.

The EPIC Volunteer Sign-Up Sheet is posted and ready for you to pencil your name in! Each Sunday September through May, EPIC needs Volunteers. You can sign up to be a Storyteller, an Artisan, or Shepherd. As a Storyteller, the story of the week will be provided for you, simply help in making Biblical story come alive! As an Artisan assist with the craft for the days’ theme, the craft and supplies will be prepared ahead of time, all you need to do is show up and help the students complete the craft and maybe even make your own too! Or you can help in Shepherding the students from one activity to the next. Each activity is fun and allows you the chance to help and get to know the future generation of our Church and them to get to know you.

We are greatly looking forward to another year of learning together and watching these amazing students grow in their walk with Christ.
