Re-covenanting Sunday | September 25th

Join us for this all-inclusive day for re-covenanting worship and signifying your devotion to Christ our Lord. Welcome All!

Now if you are unwilling to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served in the region beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living, but as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.

~Joshua 24:15

An excerpt from Pastor Chad's article as seen in the September 2022 All Souls newsletter, The Missioner:

"Early on in my ministry among you, we celebrated “Re-covenanting Sunday.” While not a part of the typical church calendar, it seemed appropriate, as we began our time together, to publicly recommit ourselves to the work of being the church.

That work includes the many things we do outwardly, to serve others in our community and beyond, the work of supporting efforts to do the same. This work also includes the inward work of simply being a church family.

We are called as God’s people to share the journey which is life. When one weeps, the body which is the church weeps alongside them. When one rejoices, the body rejoices alongside them. [...]

I urge all, therefore, to be a part of services on September 25th. Between now and then, I urge you also to pray about your involvement and support of our fellowship. We cannot be what we are called to be without you. Nor can you be all that God calls you to be apart from the body.

On September 25th, we will worship as we always do, but I will speak to the nature of covenant and the nature of the church. We will also join in a liturgy recommitting ourselves to one another and the work that we share.

It is an appropriate time for such an observance, as we begin a new program year and as we continue to move toward a post-pandemic world."
